OTTAWA, April 22, 2013 /CNW/ - Kivuto Solutions Inc., the global leader in complex digital distribution, announced a renewed commitment to deliver green distribution solutions to customers worldwide and to continue to offset its carbon footprint with the Carbonfund.org Foundation, the leading nonprofit carbon reduction and climate solutions organization.
The announcement today reaffirms Kivuto's commitment to environmental care programs that reduce carbon emissions and contribute to efforts to fight global warming, while providing customers with the most effective and efficient distribution of digital goods. As part of this commitment Kivuto has renewed its association with Carbonfund.org's CarbonFree® Partner Program, which supports third-party validated renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation projects in the U.S. and abroad to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and hasten the transition to a clean energy future.
"Traditional production, packaging and delivery of digital goods on CDs and DVDs have a significant carbon impact on our environment, and we have worked with our customers to reduce that impact for more than 10 years," said Richard White, Vice-President & COO, Kivuto Solutions. "Studies have proven that replacing traditional distribution methods with digital distribution solutions can reduce carbon emissions by as much as 83 percent for a single product. And our estimates show that the 23 million digital downloads Kivuto enabled for its customers over the past year reduced carbon emissions by approximately 32,000 metric tons. That's a 52 percent increase in the carbon offset we have enabled each year for the past ten years. We're proud of that contribution to the worldwide effort to reduce global warming and the company and all its employees are committed to continue to support that effort any way we can."
As a Carbonfund.org partner, Kivuto will continue to offset carbon emissions by supporting Reforestation and Forest Preservation projects, which fight climate change by sequestering CO2 emissions from the atmosphere in trees and soil and improve local environmental quality. In addition, Kivuto employees have created a Green Team, which manages green initiatives within the company and participates in local campaigns to clean the environment, including the Cleaning the Capital campaign, a project to clean up the litter in the neighborhood around Kivuto's head office.
"Our efforts go beyond green initiatives designed for our customers," said Richard White. "We have implemented an enhanced office recycling program that includes processes for recycling batteries and electronics, and we are launching a new program to reduce energy consumption throughout our operations. These and other programs are managed by employees, so our commitment to green operations extends to every level of our organization. "
