Konecranes introduces versatile CLX Single Phase chain hoist with H-4 rating
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio, April 24, 2017 /CNW/ -- Konecranes announces strategic addition to its award-winning CLX electric chain hoist line.
Konecranes has further expanded its successful CLX electric chain hoist platform by adding a model that can operate wherever 115-volt single-phase power is available, eliminating the requirement for a wired-in three-phase power source. Available in 500 KG (half-ton) and 1,000 KG (1-ton) capacities, this versatile, heavy-duty industrial hoist can be plugged in virtually anywhere.
"We have experienced enormous demand for this hoist, so we are very excited about introducing it to the market," says Chuck Snook, product sales manager, Konecranes Region Americas.
According to Snook, the CLX Single Phase has all of the features of the current CLX chain hoist line, utilizing Konecranes Core of Lifting – an integrated package of gears, motor and controls designed and made by Konecranes specifically for hoists and lifting, in a model that can be plugged into any normal wall outlet.
"This product will be welcomed by customers who may be building or expanding into new areas where there is no 3-phase service, or who are operating at a job site in remote locations," says Snook. "But perhaps the most important feature is that the ASME Duty Classification for this hoist is H-4. Our customers have long been asking for a heavy-duty single-phase hoist, and Konecranes has just delivered." Konecranes new Single Phase Hoist is CSA Approved.
The CLX Single Phase is the most recent addition to Konecranes award-winning CLX line, which features full metal frame and combines a modern look with numerous performance and safety features. Konecranes increased the CLX's speed ratio to 6:1 for safer and more effective load handling (3 phase only) and recently introduced their inverter controlled SLX with standard smart features. Konecranes incorporated the standard upper and lower limit switches into the hoist body to protect them from outside influences. A very robust hook-operated upper actuator for the limit switch works with the new hook block design, and decreases the headroom required for the hoist.
Other benefits include a self-adjusting magnetic brake designed for the lifetime of the hoist and a robust maintenance-free gearbox. Overload protection is achieved by a slipping clutch that prevents the load from dropping or micro-slipping. The CLX employs common electrical components through a number of frame sizes, reducing the number of spare parts users need to have on hand.
Recognized by the Red Dot Awards for product design, The CLX chain hoist has become a star performer in a wide range of configurations, such as workstation cranes, overhead cranes, jib cranes and a variety of fixed configurations. The unit is designed for easy replacement of components with plug-in connections. No special tools are required for servicing the hoist.
"The CLX electric chain hoist is a standout product for Konecranes," says Snook. "Customers love the maintainability of the CLX, which has proven to be extremely reliable. They also like the design, which bolsters the overall look of their factory. And, they really appreciate the ergonomics and all of the safety features. Our new CLX Single Phase gives them even more flexibility about where they can use all of this technology in their environment."
