Koodonation Extends its Spirit of Social Good with Canada's First French Microvolunteering Website Français
TORONTO, July 3, 2014 /CNW/ - KoodonationTM, Canada's first-ever online microvolunteering community is now spreading the spirit of social good from coast to coast with its new French website: nationkoodo.com.
Koodonation has been redefining volunteerism since October 2011 by engaging today's online socially-savvy generation in community engagement and philanthropy, all through one, simple online hub: koodonation.com. What started as a grassroots initiative, created to connect not-for-profit and charitable organizations with talented microvolunteers, has become a national phenomenon and a testament to Canadians' love of giving back. This new method of volunteerism is known as microvolunteering, and is now officially available in French with NationkoodoMC.
A New Era of Volunteerism
Research shows today's young generation wants to give back – 40 per cent of 24 to 25 year olds engage in volunteering – but feels there's not enough time to do it. Based on the rise of social media and mobile technology, Koodo Mobile pioneered a new way for Canadians to volunteer. Koodonation, and now, Nationkoodo, provide a way for microvolunteers to help non-profits directly on the site, with no need to travel. The work is completed online, at the time and place that suits the microvolunteer best.
"Nationkoodo gives not-for-profit organizations a high-impact, low-maintenance way to get work done for free by a huge pool of talented and enthusiastic volunteers," said Kevin Banderk, Chief Koodo Officer, Koodo Mobile. "It's beneficial for everyone involved, to be part of a community that makes volunteering so accessible. Now you can do good from home, even if you're in your pajamas!"
Koodonation is recognized as a progressive evolution in the world of volunteering, and has grown an active community of more than 450 registered Canadian charities, nearly 12,000 microvolunteers and 650 completed "challenges." Koodonation is very proud to now share its success and innovation in microvolunteering with French-speaking non-profits and talented Canadians looking to make a positive change in their communities.
"Koodonation has been a true success in supporting social good and encouraging a new way of volunteering in English Canada. We've been waiting for the perfect moment to expand into French Canada with Nationkoodo, and there's no better time than now," continues Kevin. "We know there are so many young, talented, socially-conscious individuals in Canada's French-speaking cities, and a number of francophone non-profits countrywide as well. We're proud to offer the perfect outlet for easy, time-efficient community involvement and a successful base of knowledge in microvolunteering to share with French-speaking communities across Canada."
Microvolunteering 101 with Nationkoodo
Microvolunteering is volunteerism built for the social media generation, and gives web savvy Canadians the opportunity to make a huge contribution to Canadian not-for-profit and charity organizations right from their computer. With microvolunteering, volunteering becomes an online activity that can be done any time the volunteer has a spare moment: before work; during a study break; or simply on a free evening at home.
Microvolunteering tasks are designed to take a short period of time, typically 15 minutes to two hours, but help not-for-profit organizations to very quickly and easily crowd-source solutions through a range of high-impact challenges and questions.
