TORONTO, Nov. 26, 2015 /CNW/ - Koskie Minsky LLP is pleased to announce that Murray Gold has been appointed as a member of the initial Board of Directors for the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan (ORPP) Administration Corporation.
Mr. Gold is the Managing Partner at Koskie Minsky LLP and a leading expert in pensions and employee benefits. He has advised boards and sponsors of major public and private sector multi-employer plans for over 25 years. Mr. Gold has been lead counsel for Koskie Minsky LLP in pension reform initiatives in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Ontario and Alberta. He served as a member of Ontario's Technical Advisory Group on Retirement Security and as an expert advisor to the Ontario Expert Commission on Pensions.
The ORPP Administration Corporation will be responsible for administering the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan, a plan designed to help Ontario workers retire with greater financial security. The Corporation's responsibilities will include enrolling eligible employers and employees; collecting, investing and holding contributions in trust for members; administering benefits; and, communicating with employers, members and other beneficiaries.
The initial board is the ORPP Administration Corporation's first Board of Directors. It will be responsible for the start-up activities of the Corporation, a central part of achieving the government's goal of ensuring that, by 2020, all Ontario workers are covered by the ORPP or a comparable workplace plan.
