TORONTO, Sept. 23, 2014 /CNW/ - KPMG Enterprise and The Gentlemen's Expo (TGE) (www.gentlemensexpo.com) have partnered up to help promote local start-ups at the second annual Gentlemen's Expo, held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on November 14th -16th.
In its second year, TGE is expecting over 30,000 attendees throughout the weekend. TGE will feature everything the modern man would want to see, including fashion, sports, musical entertainment, alcohol, grooming, technology and business. Sunday programming will focus on start-ups and entrepreneurship, and will feature relevant content with talks on how to get funding for your company, prepare for a pitch, corporate structuring, some successful and not so successful tales from Dragon's Den and a whole lot more.
This year, TGE has incorporated a "Start Me Up" pavilion, where 20 approved startups will receive a 5x5 booth partially subsidized by KPMG Enterprise (cost for entry is $250.00). Each accepted startup will have the opportunity to provide TGE a 60-second pitch video which will be promoted via social media and voted on by TGE fans.
"KPMG Enterprise has believed in us from day one and we're grateful for their continued support" said Settimio Coscarella, Co-Founder of The Gentlemen's Expo. "We really want to showcase some of the bright and hard working entrepreneurs this city has to offer."
The top 4 will then have an opportunity to deliver their best pitch on Sunday to a judging panel, which will include former Dragon Bruce Croxon. The winner will receive a prize pack worth over $7,000 to put towards their start-up, including $2,500 in consulting services from KPMG Enterprise. The other 3 finalists will also receive $1,000 in consulting services.
"We are very excited to be partnering with The Gentlemen's Expo this year and to sponsor Start Me Up Sunday" said Peter McNeill, National Director for KPMG Enterprise. "We feel it's important to do our part and help entrepreneurs reach a mass audience and achieve the success they've worked so hard for".
There are only 20 spots available for the Start Me Up pavilion and applications will be accepted until October 31st. It should include a brief write up about the company and why they want to participate in The Gentlemen's Expo. To apply for a Start-up booth, please email [email protected].
