KPMG Named Again Among Top 25 Family-Friendly Employers in Canada
Eighth time that KPMG has made the list
Now entering its 8th year, Canada's Top Family-Friendly Employers is an annual competition to recognize employers offering the nation's most progressive and forward-thinking programs for employees with young children. The employers on this list are the leaders in helping employees balance their work and family commitments.
This year, the editors reviewed more than 75,000 employers across
"Once again, we are proud to be included on this prestigious list," said Mario Paron, KPMG's Chief Human Resources Officer. "KPMG recognizes that in order to recruit and retain top-quality candidates, it is important to respect their time with their families and provide the flexibility needed to ensure this happens."
The firm demonstrates its commitment to being a family-friendly employer by creating a culture that welcomes and respects the needs of parents of young children. Specifically, KPMG offers its employees a number of options, including:
- Parental leave top-up payments for adoptive parents, and up to $20,000 for adoption expenses - Parental leave top-up to 100 percent of salary for 17 weeks for new mothers, and 100 percent of salary for 4 weeks for fathers - New employees start with 3 weeks' paid vacation and have up to 50 hours or 7 paid personal days off each year.
National winners have been announced in the current issue of Today's Parent magazine, Canada's largest parenting magazine. Each year, Today's Parent announces the winners in a special editorial feature included in their December issue, which includes its reasons for selecting each employer.
The editors of Canada's Top Family-Friendly Employers evaluate each employer in terms of the programs and initiatives they have to assist employees with young families. In addition, the editors look at other programs each employer may have to address specific work-life balance issues unique to their industry.
"We have created an environment where parents of young children are able to devote their energy and talents to their jobs and also spend quality time at home to do the most important job of all - raising their families," says Mario Paron. "This is a win-win situation for all concerned."
