The Agency invites the public to comment on the potential environmental effects of the project and the proposed measures to prevent or mitigate those effects, as described in a summary of the proponent's Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
The KSM Project is subject to review under both the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act and British Columbia's Environmental Assessment Act and is undergoing a cooperative environmental assessment process with B.C's Environmental Assessment Office (EAO).
Seabridge Gold Incorporated proposes to develop a combined open-pit and underground gold, copper, silver, and molybdenum mine in the Kerr, Sulphurets, and Mitchell Creek watersheds located about 65 kilometres northwest of Stewart, British Columbia. The proposed KSM Project is expected to process 130,000 tonnes per day of ore over a mine life of up to 55 years.
The 45-day public comment period is from September 6, 2013 to October 21, 2013. Information sessions will also be held during the comment period.
