KTUNAXA NATION AND TEMBEC RENEW RELATIONSHIP PROTOCOL AND ENGAGEMENT AND
BENEFITS AGREEMENT

CRANBROOK, BC, Nov. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - The Ktunaxa Nation, represented by Chair, Kathryn Teneese and Tembec, represented by CEO, James Lopez signed a Relationship Protocol and Engagement and Benefits Agreement at the St. Eugene Mission Resort. 

According to Tembec Western Canada Chief Forester, Chris Stagg "the renewal of the Relationship Protocol is intended to build on the positive and durable working relationship that has developed between the members of the Ktunaxa Nation and Tembec since 2004. The Protocol emphasizes mutual recognition and respect, and serves as a foundation for business agreements and collaboration between the parties."

The Engagement and Benefits Agreement relates to Tembec's activities within the Ktunaxa territory, and defines a process for engagement between the two parties and identifies potential means of accommodation of Ktunaxa interests. Highlights of this agreement include the following main points:

• The implementation of an engagement process at various levels
• The establishment of a Joint Management Advisory Committee (JMAC)
• Assistance with capacity and resource requirements to implement the agreements
• Information sharing protocols
• The development of employment, training, contracting and business strategies.

"The renewal of this agreement re-affirms the positive relationship that has been developed between Tembec and the Ktunaxa Nation over the years," said Kathryn Teneese, Ktunaxa Nation Chair. "This agreement has clearly benefitted the Ktunaxa Nation in economic development and the management of resources within our territory.
