VANCOUVER, Oct. 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell Copper Corporation ("Bell Copper" or the "Company") (TSX-V Symbol: BCU) is pleased to announce that its wholly owned Mexican subsidiary Minera Montoro is initiating a ground magnetic survey over the 2400-hectare Balsa 14 concession. Central to the Balsa 14 concession is a prominent 3 kilometer by 4 kilometer magnetic anomaly identified in a government aeromagnetic survey. The dimensions of the anomaly are comparable to aeromagnetic anomalies over Arcelor-Mittal's 290-million-ton Las Truchas iron deposit, located 20 kilometers to the west. Minera Montoro, through the exploitation agreement disclosed on August 19, 2010, is currently mining high grade lump iron ore on the Balsa 14 concession from satellite orebodies peripheral to the aeromagnetic anomaly. Two grab samples taken by the Company at the site of the current mining returned iron values of 66.8% and 65.4%. Lump iron ore is being delivered to Chinese purchasers at the port of Lazaro Cardenas 10 kilometers to the southwest.
The Company has applied for an additional mineral concession, named Balsa 15, situated along the west side of Balsa 14 following the discovery of outcropping iron ore beyond the western limits of Balsa 14. The large aeromagnetic anomaly described above on the Balsa 14 concession lies roughly midway between the newly discovered iron ore outcrop and the Company's iron mining operations 5 kilometers to the east.
The Company's ground survey will cover the Balsa 14 and Balsa 15 concessions with about 140 line kilometers of magnetic measurements using a 200-meter spacing between lines. The survey will be initiated in the vicinity of the current iron mining operations in order to assist in the delineation of new iron ore that might be extracted in the near-term. The survey is expected to take about two months to complete.
For the purposes of this news release, the Qualified Person is Timothy Marsh, Ph.D., P.Eng., the Company's President.
