Labatt Breweries named to Canada's Top 100 Employers for 2015
Canada's leading brewer credits the character of its people
TORONTO, Nov. 4, 2014 /CNW/ - Labatt Breweries of Canada has been recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for 2015. This is the second consecutive year the brewer has been named to the prestigious annual list since first entering the competition in 2013.
"Our win for the second consecutive year is a major honour for Labatt, and it's made even bigger by the fact that we were also named one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People just this past April," says Agostino De Gasperis, vice president, People. "It's the character of our people – their commitment, integrity, hard work, and optimism - that have made these honours possible."
Labatt is one of Canada's founding businesses and the country's leading brewer, with 3,000 employees in breweries, offices, warehouses and distribution centers from Newfoundland to British Columbia. With a portfolio that spans from global brands to iconic favorites that Canadians have been brewing and enjoying for generations, it has more brands in each province's top 10 than any other brewer.
"Beer is about celebrating life's special moments, and we bring this positive sense of purpose to our workplace every day," says De Gasperis. "Yet our character is just as much defined by our employees' commitment, compassion and willingness to work hard for results. This is a meritocracy where employees are empowered to make an impact on our company and our communities."
Labatt's dream is to be The Best Beer Company Bringing People Together for a Better World by promoting responsible drinking, protecting the environment and supporting its communities. In 2014, employees took action on this dream by hosting public forums and cleaning public lands for World Environment Day, contributing hundreds of ideas for resource conservation, mobilizing Labatt's Disaster Relief program to get safe canned drinking water to flood victims in Western Canada, and volunteering for a host of other worthy causes of their own choosing. The people of Labatt have been giving back to Canadian communities since 1847.
Canada's Top 100 Employers project has annually recognized Canada's best places to work since 2001. Winners are selected by the editors of Mediacorp, the nation's largest publisher of employment-related periodicals and online directories. The competition aims to identify companies and organizations that lead their industries in attracting and retaining employees by evaluating entrants using eight criteria: (1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement.
