TORONTO, May 15, 2014 /CNW/ - The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) and CNW, a PR Newswire Company, are pleased to announce Lana Winterfield as the 2014 CPRS/CNW Student Award of Excellence winner. Winterfield will be recognized during the 2014 CPRS National Awards Gala on May 27 in Banff, AB.

Winterfield's instructor and nominator for the award, Sherrell Steele, Manager, School of Communications, MacEwan University, notes that she has a thoroughly professional conduct and serves as a positive and inspiring role model to others.
Established jointly by CPRS and CNW, the award recognizes student excellence in the public relations (PR) field. Program co-ordinators or instructors from public relations programs across Canada nominate candidates by submitting a 300-500 word summary about the nominee. Eligible students had to be currently enrolled in their final year (or equivalent) of a recognized, PR program, instructed in a Canadian post-secondary institution. Students must have been studying at an undergraduate, diploma or certificate level. Winners receive a certificate and $1,000 cash award from CNW. CPRS will provide Winterfield with a complimentary Affiliate Membership. The Affiliate Membership is a new category designed specifically for new practitioners entering the profession following the completion of post-secondary public relations studies.
