CALGARY, Jan. 24, 2019 /CNW/ - Landmark Cinemas Canada has commenced renovations at its Shawnessy theatre location in Calgary, AB., to convert nine of the theatres' ten auditoriums to fully-powered luxury recliner seating. The theatre's tenth auditorium, its EXTRA Experience, will be replaced with Canada's first Laser Ultra presentation, a state-of-the-art sound and projection experience featuring Barco's laser projection system coupled with immersive DOLBY Atmos® sound.
Landmark Cinemas 10 Shawnessy, located at 16061 MacLeod Trail SE, Calgary, AB., remains open during the renovation period, and looks forward to introducing movie lovers to this new premium movie-going experience beginning with the scheduled opening of the theatre's initial three recliner auditoriums the week of March 4th with all auditoriums opening by the end of May.
The introduction of fully-powered luxury recliner seating necessitates the reduction of overall theatre capacity, providing a significant increase in personal space and a more relaxing, disruption free movie-going experience. Free reserved seating will remain part of the theatre's premium offering. To purchase tickets and reserve your seats for free visit landmarkcinemas.com or the ATOM Tickets mobile ticketing platform and app.
The theatre's new Laser Ultra presentation, featuring Barco's laser projection system, offers superior image quality with exceptional brightness level, increased contrast ratio and vivid colors for a radically improved (3D) movie experience. The 2D and 3D images are laser-sharp with superbly saturated and uniform colors. DOLBY Atmos® produces breathtaking sound quality that immerses movie-goers in the action, creating a full audio atmosphere rendering everything from dialogue to quiet scenes to whirlwind action with astonishing clarity, richness, detail, and depth.
"We are thrilled to be installing recliner seating in our Shawnessy location. Recliner seating, coupled with Canada's first Laser Ultra presentation experience, are customer focused innovations designed to improve the overall movie-going experience," said Bill Walker, CEO Landmark Cinemas Canada. "Movie-goers will now have the choice between spacious recliner seats for date nights, a day out at the movies with the entire family, or to enjoy the latest Superhero film in the state-of-the-art Laser Ultra experience."
