MONTREAL, Oct. 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (NYSE andTSX: RBA), the world's largest industrial auctioneer, will sell a large selection of late-model construction equipment and trucks in a two-day unreserved public auction at its Montreal, QC auction site on December 5 - 6, 2012. Equipment highlights include late-model Caterpillar hydraulic excavators, crawler tractors, wheel loaders, motor graders and articulated dump trucks, as well as a large selection of late-model pickup trucks - many of which were used in the Route 1 Gateway Project in New Brunswick. All equipment will be sold to the highest bidders without minimum bids or reserve prices. Bids in the auction can be made in person at the auction site (1373 Rue Briere, Mont Saint Hilaire, QC), online in real time at www.rbauction.com or by proxy.
More than 100 of the equipment items in the auction are being sold for Dexter Construction Company Limited, a heavy civil construction contractor and part of the Municipal Group of Companies based in Bedford, Nova Scotia. The equipment was used on the New Brunswick Route 1 Gateway project, which involved the construction of 55 kilometres of new highway, including all bridges, overpasses and structures. This new section of highway will carry traffic from the United States border to the Trans-Canada Highway in River Glade, New Brunswick.
"All this equipment was purchased new specifically for this project, has been well maintained and has low hour usage—in the range of 5,000 hours," said Harold Johnson, VP Equipment Division of the Municipal Group of Companies. "When the Route 1 Gateway project began winding down we considered our options for selling such a large group of equipment and decided a Ritchie Bros. auction would be the best way to get market value because of the competitive environment they create with their unreserved auction method and their ability to draw in buyers from around the world."
