Last Call for Michener Award entries and Fellowships applications

TORONTO, Feb. 11, 2013 /CNW/ - The Michener Awards Foundation reminds journalists that the deadline is February 22 to submit entries for the Michener Award for meritorious public service journalism and for two Michener-Deacon fellowships.

Editors whose news organizations have published journalism that made an impact on the public good in 2012 are urged to enter the competition. Size of the news organization is no barrier to success.

The Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Investigative Journalism, supported by BMO Financial Group, is Canada's premier award to encourage excellence in investigative print, broadcast, and online journalism. The Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Journalism Education, supported by the Michener Awards Foundation and the Family of the late Paul S. Deacon, is dedicated to the advancement of the education of Canadian journalists.The successful  applicant will become a designated mature journalist-in-residence at a recognized Canadian school of journalism for one semester.

Both fellowships provide $30,000 and up to $5,000 in accountable expenses. Details are at www.michenerawards.ca
