Last chance to register for 2012 National Infrastructure Summit, Regina SK, September 10 - 12
REGINA, Aug. 29, 2012 /CNW/ - The 2012 Summit will feature practical, innovative, global approaches to infrastructure solutions, focussing on five themes: Defining the Need, Financing the Opportunities, Politics of Infrastructure, Innovation and Citizen Engagement.
Politics of Infrastructure, in particular, will focus on the role of real-politics to the issue of infrastructure. Drawing from the experiences of an all-star panel, attendees will hear the insider perspective on deliberations and decision-making at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels.
Focusing on public engagement, governance, financing, intergovernmental relations and decision-making, the theme features four noted speakers:
- The Honourable Chuck Strahl, former Federal Cabinet Minister;
- Bernard Lord, former Premier of New Brunswick;
- His Worship Doug Reycraft, Mayor, County of Middlesex, Chair FCM Standing Committee on Municipal Infrastructure and Transportation Policy; and
- Mario Lefebvre, Director, Centre for Municipal Studies, Conference Board of Canada.
"By the end of this panel discussion, attendees will leave with greater insight into how different orders of government think, why governments act the way they do, and how all orders of government and the private sector can work more effectively together to address Canada's infrastructure needs" said Mike O'Donnell, City Councillor and Summit Chair.
Regina Mayor Pat Fiacco extends the invitation to once again participate and engage in discussions and workshops led by experts in global best practices and new approaches to funding, planning, building and maintaining infrastructure - roads, bridges, water, wastewater, sidewalks and underground pipes.
Registration for the 2012 Summit closes Friday, August 31.
