TORONTO, Jan. 17, 2017 /CNW/ - On February 2nd, the 2nd annual Healthy Hearts Chef Challenge will showcase the culinary talents of executive chefs representing Chartwell, DelManor, Schlegel Villages & V!VA retirement homes as a fundraiser during heart month. It is also the kick-off for the 33rd annual WALK OF LIFE at the end of May. Dr. Peter Lin, CBC's House Doctor, will host the fun & educational evening emphasizing the importance of DIET & EXERCISE for adults and children. He will also give tips on preventing and reducing risk factors for heart disease.
The event will announce the funding of the first Paediatric Exercise Medicine Room and cardiac rehab program for kids and adolescents in Canada at SickKids Hospital. The Cardiac Health Foundation's mission of 'Prevention, Education & Cardiac Rehabilitation' will have gone full circle from supporting Dr. Terry Kavanagh's pioneer work in establishing cardiac rehab for adults across Canada 50 years ago to now working to support kids!
The evening will include donated wines, appetizers, desserts, FOUR heart healthy entrees demonstrated and served at stations by the renowned chefs and live entertainment by Andrew Beg, Frances Beg & Tom King.
