A multidisciplinary approach to enhance available health services
MONTREAL, Feb. 20, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - McKesson Canada is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of HUMA+ clinics in the Greater Montréal Area. Located in Laval and St-Bruno-de-Montarville, these two new clinics will offer patients the opportunity to collaborate with professionals from many medical disciplines, under the supervision of doctors affiliated with the Québec health care network.
"This is great news for individuals located near the HUMA+ clinics," declared Dale Weil, Senior Vice President, Integrated Healthcare Solutions, Strategy and Business Development at McKesson Canada. "HUMA+ clinics will be open and accessible to everyone. There are no access fees, and the doctors working there are paid by the Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec's public plan (RAMQ). It will be up to the doctor, and only the doctor, to prescribe what treatment is best suited to his or her patient. Patients will be able to choose whether to pursue their treatment in the public network, however we believe that the added value of HUMA+ clinics resides in the fact that patients will have the choice to receive their treatments at HUMA+, thanks to the many paramedical services offered," added Ms. Weil.
A multidisciplinary approach
As for Yves Legault, Vice-President and General Manager of McKesson Health Management Services, who is responsible for the new HUMA+ clinics, he feels that doctors and patients will be able to take advantage of this approach: "The benefit of our services is helping doctors optimize their tasks. The core of this activity is to support medical staff within each clinic so they can better organize their work. Doctors working at the HUMA+ clinics will be responsible for patients and will be assisted by several health professionals, including nurses, nutritionists, physiotherapists, and many others," he said.
Mr. Legault also added: "Doctors will be responsible for the patients. For patients diagnosed with a medical condition or chronic illness, doctors will be able to offer a multidisciplinary approach, with the help of our other professionals. These specialised services will be provided onsite to all patients who choose to use these services, while always adhering to the applicable laws in Québec."
