TORONTO, Nov. 8, 2018 /CNW/ - The National Media Awards Foundation (NMAF), a bilingual charity that facilitates Canadian journalism awards programs, is thrilled to announce the inaugural National Magazine Awards: B2B. The awards were developed following a demand from the Canadian B2B sector; industry experts provided guidance and consultation on the category roster and judging guidelines, crafting a program that reflects the industry while leveraging, and expanding on, the NMA brand and mission.
B2B creators and publishers will be recognized through the NMA: B2B annual awards program and through ongoing, national publicity efforts. The inaugural Call for Entries will open on January 3, 2019.
Canadian B2B publications include those that are editorial in nature and self-describe as a professional, association, alumni, or trade magazine with a permanent editorial staff in Canada. The awards competition will be open to both print and digital magazines, published in English, French, or a combination of both languages.
The NMA: B2B program relied on the advice of its steering committee, composed of Canadian B2B publishing leaders. These individuals include:
- Kristin Doucet, Managing Editor, Professionally Speaking
- Colin Leslie, Editor-in-Chief, The Medical Post
- Charles DesGroseilliers, Art Director, Les Affaires
- Ryan Bergen, Editor-in-Chief, CIM Magazine
"Amazing work is published every year by creators dedicated to B2B journalism. They serve smaller audiences, but achieve big impact. I'm thrilled that the NMAF will contribute to increase this impact with the new NMA: B2B program," said Julie Cailliau, NMAF President.
In 2018, the NMA: B2B awards will recognize excellence in 19 categories, including recognition for achievement in personal and company profiles, trade and professional feature articles, overall leadership of a member of the Canadian B2B industry, and more. The complete category lineup is available at NMAb2b.com.
Awards will include a $500 cash prize in creator-focused categories, awarded to the individual Gold winner, while Silver medalists and finalists will be recognized with certificates and seals, and national recognition for achievement in B2B publishing. Winners will be announced and celebrated at the awards presentation, which is scheduled to take place in the spring of 2019.
Complete information on the category lineup, rules and eligibility, and judging are now available on NMAb2b.com. Submissions will open on January 3, 2019, for B2B content produced in 2018. Follow @NMA_B2B for updates.
