Laurendeau Addresses QFHSA Delegates
MONTREAL, April 30 /CNW Telbec/ - Serge Laurendeau, President QPAT, addressed delegates at QFHSA's 66th AGM held April 24th in Dorval. Laurendeau spoke of the need for a parent/teacher partnership to achieve mutual goals in education and well-being.
Salary improvements were discussed, as many teachers are lost early and the shortage of math and science teachers is critical. Teacher's job security is also a concern.
Targets have been set for improving situations in special needs; integration; lowering class sizes; and increasing funds for training. It was stressed that a general strike is a worst-case scenario.
