Law Society Tribunal Regulatory Proceedings for November 2014
TORONTO, Dec. 18, 2014 /CNW/ - The Law Society of Upper Canada regulates the lawyers and paralegals of Ontario in the public interest. The Law Society ensures that all lawyers and licensed paralegals in Ontario meet standards of learning, professional competence and professional conduct that are appropriate for the legal services provided.
The Law Society Tribunal recently heard the following matters. The Tribunal, which is an independent administrative tribunal within the Law Society, is responsible for processing, hearing and deciding these cases.
John Richard Battaglio (2008) of the Community of Greensville
Decision: The Paralegal was suspended for one month, continuing after his return to providing legal services and continuing indefinitely until specified conditions are met.
Roberto Cucci (1990) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer shall be reprimanded.
Roy Alan Fisher (1976) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer's licence was revoked as of November 10, 2014.
Gianluca Latina (2008) of the Community of Maple
Decision: The Paralegal was suspended for two months, commencing after the termination of his administrative suspension. The Paralegal shall pay restitution to his client in the amount of $1200.
Gaetano Lo Faso (1975) of the Community of Woodbridge
Decision: The Lawyer is suspended for 30 days effective January 5, 2015 and continuing indefinitely until a specified condition is met.
Bhupender Malik (1998) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer was suspended on an interim basis from November 14, 2014 to December 12, 2014, and must comply with specified conditions regarding his books and records.
Claudio Martini (1989) of the City of Windsor
Decision: The hearing panel's October 8, 2014 Decision and Order, which suspended the Lawyer for seven months, is stayed pending the disposition of the appeal.
Danish Muhammad Munir (2005) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer is suspended on an interlocutory basis, but he is permitted to continue to represent one client in a criminal trial under specified conditions.
Michael James Munro (1996) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer's licence to practise law is revoked, effective November 17, 2014
Christopher Chiao-Chung Tan (1992) of the City of Ottawa
Decision: The Lawyer is suspended for five months, commencing January 1, 2015 and continuing indefinitely until a specified condition is met.
Paul Alexander Robson (1983) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer's appeal was allowed, the finding of conduct unbecoming and the penalty of revocation set aside, and a new hearing is ordered before a differently constituted hearing panel.
Kumar Sriskanda (1994) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Lawyer is suspended on an interlocutory basis, commencing on November 27, 2014.
Benito Antonio Zappia (2008) of the City of Toronto
Decision: The Paralegal was reprimanded.
