Lawyers across Canada get wet supporting #IceBucketChallenge

Borden Ladner Gervais challenges the world of accounting

TORONTO, Aug. 29, 2014 /CNW/ - Borden Ladner Gervais LLP enthusiastically took up the ALS Canada ice bucket challenge with BLG partners and employees in every office across Canada getting wet for this important charity. Canada's largest law firm welcomed the challenge issued by another legal firm. BLG staff, alumni and friends donated $13,805 dollars to Team BLG and The BLG Foundation contributed another $5,000 for a total of $18,805. "This cause is of particular importance to the firm as it helps to honour our respected colleague, Michael McNaughton, who passed away from ALS in November, 2012," said Sean Weir, national managing partner and CEO. "ALS is a devastating disease that at this moment has no cure. As a firm we recognize our responsibility to make important social contributions in the community and embrace this opportunity to support ALS Canada."

To continue the momentum of this successful campaign, the BLG team has extended the challenge to the world of accounting and nominates BDO, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Grant Thornton, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers to answer the challenge.
