MONTREAL, Sept. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Luc Maurice, President of Le Groupe Maurice, re-establishes certain facts relative to an article by Mrs. Arianne Lacoursière in La Presse on September 16th.
« Le Groupe Maurice owns 14 residences for seniors, totalling 4000 apartment units, 546 of which are studios dispensing care services. In all our residences, the quality of the services rendered is acknowledged by the industry, the government, as well as our residents themselves. The quality of the food, the reliability of our infrastructure and the diversity of the services offered are merely a few reasons why Le Groupe Maurice has the highest occupancy rate in the industry » states Mr Luc Maurice, President of Le Groupe Maurice.
Operating since 1998, Le Groupe Maurice has often been presented with purchasing offers for its residences. No offer has been accepted, including the one presented jointly by the Grace Dart Foundation and the Health and Social Services Agency of Montreal for Le Vivalis. « This complex, as all other Groupe Maurice residences, is not for sale. In 2006, while Le Vivalis was still under construction, the Grace Dart Foundation, with the support of the Agency, came forward with their interest in purchasing the building from us. An offer was recently made in this regard, which we refused. Le Vivalis is ours, and we manage it the way we manage all our residences, which is always in the best interest of the residents and in accordance with our mission », declared Mr Maurice.
As for Le Vivalis' certification process, the Conseil Québécois d'Agrément visited the residence on December 2nd, 2008. Minor administrative adjustments needed to be made, such as the development of a register with the signature of those who have reviewed the intervention guides and certain policies. Once the necessary adjustments made, confirmation of the corrective measures was sent to the Agency in June of 2009. In addition, the residence is endowed with a fire security plan, approved by the Fire Department of Montreal in March of 2007. A series of discussions between the Agency and the Montreal Fire Department took place regarding the certification process. New requirements emerged from these exchanges. We took full consideration of the new requirements and revised our plan accordingly, the final version of which was thereby presented for approval in August of 2010. The certification of Le Vivalis awaits the sole approval of this plan.
Le Vivalis is one of the few buildings in our province built according to the strictest construction norms for housing environments offering care services comparable to those offered in hospitals (type B2). 120 employees see to the well being of our 90 non autonomous residents in this high end complex. Surely a ratio not matched by many in our industry.
« Le Groupe Maurice has an impeccable reputation, highlighted and put to the test in its relations with both private and public partners. It is with great pleasure that we embrace visits from journalists sharing our priority to offer nothing but quality to our seniors. The undeniable quality of our complex and services speak for themselves», concludes Mr. Maurice.
