Leadership Transition at Ontario Shores

WHITBY, ON, Dec. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Michael Nettleton, Chair of the Board of Directors at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) today announced that after eight years in the role of CEO of the organization, Glenna Raymond will be assuming the role of strategic advisor, and Deputy CEO Karim Mamdani has been appointed to the role of CEO, effective April 1, 2013.

"During her eight year tenure Glenna Raymond has not only been a leader at Ontario Shores but she is also a leader in transforming mental health care both provincially, nationally and internationally.  Her leadership at Ontario Shores has resulted in our practices, philosophies and transforming ideas being shared with organizations throughout the world," said Nettleton.  "Glenna has been the catalyst in reshaping our mission, vision and values and leading the creation of the strategic plan that has guided our success.  The Board could not be more pleased that Glenna will continue to provide strategic advice and support to the organization well into 2014."

During the last year, Ontario Shores developed an extensive new Strategic Plan under the leadership of Glenna and Karim.  The Board also approved the implementation of its succession plan to ensure the successful implementation of the new Strategic Plan.

Karim Mamdani has been with Ontario Shores for over six years, most recently in the role of Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO.  His expertise in transforming operations, including IT, finance and human resources have benefitted both Ontario Shores and the broader mental health system in Ontario.

"Karim is widely regarded throughout the mental health sector for his expertise in operations, systems and finance.  In addition to this expertise, Karim has a passion for the issues related to mental health. He translates that passion into driving positive change and system improvements for our clients," said Nettleton.  "The Board of Directors looks forward to working with Karim as he leads the organization through the implementation of our newest strategic plan by exploring and enabling new care delivery models, accessing capacity in mental health care, building capacity provincially, and encouraging innovation and discovery in mental health care."
