Led Innovation Design, the Bell Centre lighting specialist, will soon be lighting up the Staples Center in Los Angeles Français
MONTREAL, Oct. 28, 2014 /CNW/ - Led Innovation Design, a high-tech company based in Laval, Quebec, is setting out to conquer large professional sports arenas in North America with the help of BDC Capital, a subsidiary of the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). BDC granted the company, which designs ultra high-performance LED lighting systems for large spaces, a subordinated loan of $500,000. Among its different credits, Led Innovation Design installed the lighting for the Montreal Canadiens' rink in the Bell Centre. The company recently signed a contract to light the Staples Center in Los Angeles—home to the Kings in the NHL and the Lakers and Clippers in the NBA.
A rapidly growing demand for orders
"Our lighting of the Bell Centre drew the attention of many different professional sports teams and many owners of arenas and stadiums. With financing from BDC Capital, we can now expand much more quickly," says Jean-Louis Legault, CEO of Led Innovation Design. "Our potential contract backlog currently totals several tens of millions of dollars, and the Los Angeles order will certainly speed things up," predicts Mr. Legault.
The company's unique technology means that its systems consume 65% less power than conventional systems. They are also the first lights that meet all the technical requirements for broadcasting games in high definition.
Financing Canadian businesses with rapid growth and strong potential
To respond to this strong potential for growth in the short term, Led Innovation Design turned to BDC Capital, which specializes in financing high-growth Canadian SMEs so they can seize promising business opportunities. BDC Capital offers many customized financing solutions, with flexible terms, which make it possible for high-growth companies to obtain capital, especially if they do not have enough tangible assets for conventional financing.
"To compete in world markets, high-growth, high-potential Canadian SMEs must focus on finding new business opportunities. Obtaining capital must not be a source of concern. According to Jérôme Nycz, Executive Vice President of BDC Capital, "Led Innovation Design has what it takes to make it big. Its management team is experienced, its expertise is undeniable, its product is well adapted to the current market, and its exclusive technology provides it with a distinctive sustainable advantage. Led Innovation Design is exactly the type of firm that BDC Capital likes to support."
The company will use the funds to increase its sales force. Its team will also work on having its products approved for other types of sports venue, such as baseball and football stadiums. Led Innovation Design also manufactures lighting systems for large industrial buildings and for agricultural and horticultural facilities, but is focusing mainly on sports arena lighting at present.
