Legends of Motorsports Brings Legendary Drivers and Cars to Mont-Tremblant
Featured Guests Jacques Villeneuve and Alex Tagliani to Meet Fans
MONT-TREMBLANT, QC, July 7 /CNW Telbec/ - Legends of Motorsports, A Bobby Rahal Signature Event, intends to make a strong first impression at Circuit Mont-Tremblant for the sole Canadian date on its inaugural calendar. Not only will 1997 Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneuve be on site, serving as Grand Marshal, but current IndyCar star Alex Tagliani will join the festivities as well. The celebrated Canadian drivers compliment a lineup of rare and exotic cars entered in the historic series' third event of 2010.
Ticketholders at Circuit Mont-Tremblant will have several opportunities to meet three racing legends. On Saturday, July 10, at noon, Rahal, Villeneuve and Tagliani will all be part of an autograph session in the paddock. The following day, fans can get even more personal with these accomplished drivers, as both Villeneuve and Tagliani will each host an intimate fan forum to answer questions from the public. Prior to Sunday's Historic Grand Prix race, fans will even have the opportunity to walk the grid before Villeneuve gives the start engines command.
"It's an honor to be a part of the inaugural Legends of Motorsports season," Villeneuve said. "I appreciate and respect Bobby Rahal's efforts to increase the popularity of historic racing in North America with this series. These are very fan friendly weekends with plenty to see and do, plus Circuit Mont-Tremblant has a great history, so it's the perfect venue for this type of event. I can't wait to meet the fans and see these priceless cars racing again, including the Ferrari 312T5 that my father raced."
The Ferrari 312T5 driven by Gilles Villeneuve in the 1980 Formula One World Championship is just one of many beautiful cars entered for the Legends of Motorsports weekend. This includes a wealth of premium Ferraris, such as a 1970 Ferrari 512M and a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. Other notables include a 1964 Maserati 250F, a 1965 Lola T70 Spyder and 1969 Lola T163, plus more than a dozen Historic Grand Prix cars. All cars will be on full display for fans to get an up-close look and feel.
"I have great memories of racing at Mont-Tremblant and I can't wait to go back," said Rahal, the 1986 Indy 500 winner and series co-founder. "Having travelled across the continent several times over for my racing career, I can tell you this track is one of the most beautiful in North America and I'm thrilled that our entry list represents a lot of the racing classes that were a part of Mont-Tremblant's rich history. I've found Canadian race fans to be quite dedicated and enthusiastic about the sport, so I know the unique access this event will provide to Jacques, Tag and these gorgeous cars will be enjoyed by all."
When not mingling with racing legends or posing for photos with priceless autos, spectators can partake in a variety of entertainment available throughout the paddock, including the Legends Drive-In, which features classic racing films plus World Cup coverage. Live music is also on tap, with classic rock band The Roosters set to play from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. For the ultimate VIP experience, ticketholders may purchase an additional pass to the Legends Club, where all Legends of Motorsports entrants go to relax out of the heat and enjoy a catered breakfast and lunch surrounded by TV monitors.
