OTTAWA, Sept. 20, 2016 /CNW/ - For the fifth consecutive year, The Royal Canadian Legion will be hosting a Virtual Wall of Honour and Remembrance here in the nation's capital.
"We are pleased to provide Canadians with an opportunity for a very personal expression of Remembrance," says Dominion President of The Royal Canadian Legion, Dave Flannigan. "We invite you to share a photo of a deceased Veteran and be a part of this memorable tribute." adds Flannigan.
Photos received will be added to the more than 1,800 photos already collected. They will be shown on November 11th, just prior to the National Remembrance Day Ceremony held in downtown Ottawa. Following the Ceremony, these photos will be posted on the Legion website.
Background:
Relatives or friends of a beloved Veteran may make this memorial tribute by sending a photo, either a high resolution digital image or a hard copy, to Dominion Command, 86 Aird Place, Ottawa, ON, K2L 0A1 (no originals please as they cannot be returned) or electronically to [email protected] or [email protected].
The photos submitted are to include the name of the deceased, years of service, element or force to which the departed belonged or regiment/unit.
In order to process all of these photos that have been amassed over the past years and incorporate these new photos to have the virtual wall ready for the Remembrance Day Ceremony, we ask that submissions be received no later than Friday 28 October.
