OTTAWA, Dec. 9, 2016 /CNW/ - The Royal Canadian Legion has renewed its annual support of the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Service's Operation Santa Claus. The Legion support includes packaging more than 2,050 Christmas gifts that will be delivered to Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP personnel deployed overseas in the days leading up to Christmas.
"The Legion has supported the CFMWS venture almost since its inception more than 25 years ago," says Dominion President of The Royal Canadian Legion, Mr. Dave Flannigan.
"The Legion has a history of sending small gift packages to our military personnel deployed overseas that dates back to the Second World War. It's a small gift but it does mean a lot. So we welcome this opportunity," adds Flannigan.
This year package includes healthy snack items like energy bars and drinking powder along with the customary Legion Mug and playing card deck.
On behalf of the nearly 300,000 men and women of the Legion, we wish all deployed CAF personnel and RCMP members our very best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season.
