Leisure Canada announces new director and officer appointments

VANCOUVER, April 16 /CNW/ - Leisure Canada Inc. (TSX-V: LCN) (the "Company") today announce that Mr. Roman Doroniuk and Mr. Brahm Gelfand have been appointed to the Company's Board of Directors. The Company also announced the resignation from the Board of Directors of Mr. Kenneth Taylor and the appointment of Mr. Hamish Greig as Corporate Secretary.

    
    Roman Doroniuk

Mr. Doroniuk has been a director of the Forzani Group since 1997 during which time he has also been an Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Magna International Inc. and Magna Entertainment Corp., President of Lionsgate Entertainment, and Chief Financial Officer of Alliance Communications Corporation. Mr. Doroniuk is a past director of several companies, including Canadian Airlines Corporation, Lionsgate Entertainment Corporation, and Peoples Jewellers Corporation. Mr. Doroniuk is a Chartered Accountant and serves as Chairman of the Audit Committees for the Forzani Group and for Groupe Aeroplan. Mr. Doroniuk has been appointed to the Company's Compensation and Audit Committees.

    
    Brahm Gelfand

Mr. Gelfand is a graduate in law from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec and has been engaged in the practice of law for close to 50 years. His practice has focused mainly on business transactions and commercial dealings both domestic and cross border. Presently Mr. Gelfand is a member of the Board of Governors of Dynamic Mutual Funds and Chairman of its Independent Review Committee. He is also associated with a number of private and public corporations and is actively involved with numerous non-profit organizations and foundations, including being a Director and former President of the Sir Mortimer B. Davis Jewish General Hospital and its Foundation in Montreal. He is currently Counsel to the Montreal law firm Lapointe Rosenstein Marchand Melancon, L.L.P. Mr. Gelfand has been appointed to the Company's Compensation and Corporate Governance and Nominating Committees.
