The Government of Canada awards more than $14,000 in funding to this snowmobile club
VALCOURT, QC, Oct. 26, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Les Pionniers de Valcourt snowmobile club (website in French) is responsible for maintaining some 136 km of snowmobile trails in Valcourt, Racine, Richmond, Durham-Sud, Sainte-Christine, Roxton Falls, Bonsecours, Brompton Lake, and Eastman.
Pierre Breton, Member of Parliament for Shefford, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced that Les Pionniers de Valcourt Inc. would receive $14,175 in financial assistance to ensure the quality and sustainability of the snowmobile trails maintained by this non-profit organization (NPO).
The funding, awarded in the form of a non‑repayable contribution under the Winter Tourism Initiative of CED's Quebec Economic Development Program, will help complete the renewal of its fleet of equipment used for mechanical trail maintenance, specifically through the acquisition of a next‑generation grader. Traffic on snowmobile trails is closely linked to trail quality. By enhancing the snowmobiling experience, this assistance will contribute to the vitality of winter tourism in the Eastern Townships.
The Government of Canada wholeheartedly supports recreational, cultural and sports projects that have a positive impact on tourism and the local economy, which further highlight the one-of-a-kind attractions that are in – and reach well beyond – the region.
