LET FOOD RULE! NEW FOOD SECTION IN READER'S DIGEST AND FRENCH DINNER SPINNER
APP FOR ALLRECIPES.QC.CA
MONTREAL, Dec. 2 /CNW/ - There is a new cook in town! Canada's #1 magazine, Reader's Digest, and #1 food website, Allrecipes, are joining forces to maximize multi-brand and multi-platform experiences for home cooks. Consumers will be happy to find a newly expanded food section in Reader's Digest called OPEN KITCHEN, as well as the French version of Allrecipes Dinner Spinner, the highly popular iPhone/iPod application.
OPEN KITCHEN:
Under the guidance of new food editor Valerie Howes, Reader's Digest is proud to unveil OPEN KITCHEN. The new section will feature all things food-related, including: inspired eating ideas, seasonally-appropriate recipes, personal stories, new gadgets, celebrity quotes, book reviews and healthy-eating tips. The December issue will focus on "The Gift of Food." Besides sharing Nigella Lawson's tips for a stress-free holiday and original gift ideas for the festive season, Valerie selects and tests several recipes from the ever-popular Allrecipes.ca.
ALLRECIPES DINNER SPINNER:
Together with Allrecipes, Reader's Digest is also launching the French version of the highly-popular Allrecipes Dinner Spinner, an innovative iPhone/iPod Touch application designed to give busy home cooks unmatched convenience in finding everyday food ideas on the go.
The Allrecipes Dinner Spinner helps home cooks answer the perennial question: "What am I going to make for dinner tonight???" Users select a main ingredient, dish type or cook time, and then find matching recipes. Cooks who can't decide what to eat, or who want to be surprised, can simply shake their iPhone or iPod Touch and voilà! —the Dinner Spinner's slot-machine style action goes to work and comes up with an endless array of new dish ideas. The Allrecipes Dinner Spinner recipes come with photos, ingredient lists, step-by-step directions, nutritional information and fellow-user reviews, offering tips, cooking shortcuts and variation ideas from Allrecipes members.
The appeal of the Allrecipes Dinner Spinner app is no surprise, as it is the most downloaded recipe app in the iTunes store with over 4.8 million downloads worldwide. Following the successful launch of the English app in Canada in December 2008, the French-language Dinner Spinner app for Quebec now enables francophones to enjoy the same: find the food they want, when they want it, wherever they are.
The app is free and available to download now at the iTunes App Store.
ALLRECIPES BOOKLET:
Want more recipes? We've got more! For ambitious home cooks looking to expand their recipe repertoire, there is a special newsstand premium gift in the December issue of Reader's Digest: a 48-page Allrecipes booklet, sponsored by Kraft Canada. The December 2010 issue of Reader's Digest is on newsstands now.
