MONTREAL, May 15, 2012 /CNW/ - From May 25 to 27, the Biosphere environment museum invites nature lovers to attend Let's Hear it for the Birds. This event features some half-dozen activities that highlight ornithology and the world of birds, all free of charge and suitable for all age groups.
Fascinating birds of prey
Learn all about diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey by taking part in an activity hosted by the Union québécoise de réhabilitation des oiseaux de proie. See some species on site, including the Great Horned Owl.
Nature Works!
Did you know that the idea for Velcro® came from thistle burrs? Learn about clever inventions inspired by birds and nature by taking part in this interactive and educational game.
Birdwatching: More than just a pastime
You could be playing a more important role than you might think by birdwatching. This conference hosted by Regroupement QuébecOiseaux features conservation and protection projects carried out by ordinary citizens. The conference is in French only.
Ornithology is cool!
Bird lovers from Regroupement QuébecOiseaux will be on hand to share their passion and discuss birdwatching techniques.
Unique birdhouses
The mini-exhibit Unique birdhouses shows you how to attract birds using birdhouses designed especially for Quebec's indigenous species.
Be sure to visit the art installation featuring birds made of recycled propane tanks, take in our kite shows, and relax in the "nature lounge," all held against a playful and enchanting backdrop designed especially for this event.
Let's Hear it for the Birds activities are held at the Biosphere's outdoor site and are free of charge. There is a charge to visit the exhibit halls, except for those aged 17 years and under (not applicable to organized groups). This event is presented during the Outdoor Festival of Montreal 2012.
