WATERLOO, ON, Jan. 27, 2015 /CNW/ - On January 28, OTIP will be joining the conversation about mental health helping to raise awareness and funds for Canadian mental health programs.
"At OTIP, there is nothing more important than our members' health and well-being," says Vic Medland, CEO. "With mental illness accounting for more than 40 per cent of our active long term disability (LTD) claims, the time is now for OTIP to join the conversation and help break down the barriers associated with mental illness."
In support of Bell Let's Talk day, OTIP will be sharing valuable information and resources with our affiliates and our members at @OTIP_Insurance. Recognizing the importance of funding critical mental health programs, OTIP will also donate $1 to the Canadian Mental Health Association for every OTIP retweet with the hashtag #togetherwithyou, to a maximum of $5,000.
Helping ensure our members receive the right diagnosis and treatment is critical, as is ensuring our members have access to help as early as possible. To assist with this, we offer our members free services such as FeelingBetterNow®; a confidential web-based healthcare program designed to assist in early diagnosis of common emotional and mental health issues. Through OTIP's LTD program, members also have access to services that advocate for early intervention and treatment to help them navigate the road back to a successful return to work.
