LG throws a curve at the Canadian smartphone market bringing the world's first curved smartphone exclusively to Rogers customers
TORONTO, Feb. 20, 2014 /CNW/ - LG Electronics (LG) today announced that the LG G Flex will be coming to Canada, exclusively through Rogers. Standing out from the crowd, the world's first smartphone designed to follow the curve of the human face, will be available this spring.
Measuring six inches diagonally, the G Flex features a Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display — the world's largest developed and manufactured specifically for a smartphone — creating an immersive, panoramic viewing experience. The G Flex utilizes the world's first curved battery and is the first phone to feature a self-healing coating on the back cover, allowing the phone to recover from minor day-to-day nicks and scratches. This innovative smartphone also features user-centric UX features such as QTheatre, Dual Window and Swing Lockscreen designed specifically for the curved screen.
"As the first curved smartphone on the Canadian market, the LG G Flex is cutting-edge from the inside out, offering Rogers customers a unique smartphone experience," said Ross Snow, vice-president Mobile Communications, LG Canada. "The G Flex further establishes LG as a premium brand with a product that is poised to reinvigorate excitement in the smartphone category for 2014."
The LG G Flex, with its Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, is enabled to run on both 2100 and 2600 MHz spectrum - reaching theoretical maximum download speeds up to 150 Mbps (typical speeds range from 12-40 Mbps) on Rogers LTE, Canada's fastest LTE network. This speed, coupled with the LG Flex's curved design, enables customers to have engaging video experiences with virtually no buffering or delays.
"Rogers customers always have access to the latest and greatest smartphones, and we look forward to bringing them a new device experience with the LG G Flex," said John Boynton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Rogers Communications. "The G Flex will reach its full potential on our LTE network, offering customers blazing fast speeds that keep them connected and entertained."
To be among the first to get their hands on the G Flex, existing and new Rogers customers can reserve the device online using the Rogers Reservation System. For more information, visit rogers.com/reserve.
When customers get the G Flex from Rogers they will have the option to enroll in Rogers Next™, an early upgrade program that gives them the freedom to get the hottest smartphones every year with no early upgrade or connection fees. Check redboard.rogers.com for more information.
