Lianne George Named Editor-in-Chief, Chatelaine
TORONTO, June 17, 2015 /CNW/ - Chatelaine, Canada's leading women's lifestyle media brand, today announced the promotion of Lianne George to Editor-in-Chief, effective immediately. An accomplished journalist, award-winning editor, and author, George has more than 15 years of experience at some of Canada's most successful lifestyle and news publications.
Since 2014, George served as Chatelaine's Editorial Director, where she worked closely with editors, writers, and design staff to produce engaging stories that resonate with Canadian women.
"Lianne is a brilliant editor. She's bursting with ideas and has a strong grasp of how to reach an audience with compelling stories on every platform," said Derek DeCloet, Vice President of Content, Publishing, Rogers. "I'm confident that under her editorial leadership, Chatelaine will enjoy continued success and growth."
George first joined Rogers in 2004 as Associate Editor at Maclean's, and was promoted to Senior Editor a year later. She played a key role in the production of the magazine and wrote or contributed to numerous major features and cover stories. In 2009, she was appointed Deputy Editor of Canadian Business, where she was instrumental in leading a complete redesign of the magazine. In 2010, George left Rogers to help launch Toronto weekly, The Grid, where she helped build the publication into an award-winning multiplatform brand – first as Deputy Editor, then as Editor. Throughout her career, George has also worked for Saturday Night magazine, ELLE Canada, and the National Post.
"I've been a Chatelaine reader for as long as I can remember. No other publication has such a rich tradition of chronicling the lives of Canadian women – their families, careers, challenges, and of course, the eternal question of what's for dinner." said George. "The opportunity to help reimagine Chatelaine across multiple platforms for a new generation of readers is a great honour."
