MISSISSAUGA, ON, July 14, 2014 /CNW/ - The Liberal Party of Canada has announced its approval of the candidacy of Dr. Sven Spengemann in the Mississauga-Lakeshore nomination race.

Sven currently serves on the Boards of Directors of the United Way of Peel Region and the UTM Alumni Association. He is also an Advisor to the Peel Multicultural Council and an active volunteer at The Compass food bank in Port Credit.
Having emigrated with his family from Germany to Mississauga in 1981, the 47-year-old father of two maintains long-standing ties in the community and first became involved in the Liberal Party in 1993.
Sven has worked in the private sector, in academia, and in the Government of Canada, and he served as a senior United Nations official in Baghdad, where he led a UN team that advised the Iraqi Parliament on legislative and constitutional reforms. Sven holds degrees from the University of Toronto (Mississauga), Osgoode Hall Law School, and the College of Europe, and he earned his doctorate at Harvard Law School.
