Past Board Member of Fraser Health and Two-Term City of Surrey Councilor
VANCOUVER, Feb. 6, 2018 /CNW/ - Liberty Leaf President & CEO, Will Rascan, announced today the appointment of Barinder Rasode to the Advisory Board of the Company. Liberty Leaf Holdings Ltd. (CSE: LIB, OTCQB: LIBFF and FSE: HN3P) ("Liberty Leaf") is a Canadian-based, public company whose objective is to be at the forefront of the cannabis industry, accelerating revenue-generating businesses within this rapidly growing sector.
Ms. Rasode currently serves as CEO of the National Institute for Cannabis Health & Education (NICHE), an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides impartial, evidence-based research about cannabis production and use in Canada. NICHE's vision for a safe and sustainable cannabis industry encompasses health, social and economic benefits.
Based in Vancouver with a national vision, NICHE was established in 2017 after discussions with the Federal and Provincial governments, industry, universities, patients, consumers, non-governmental organizations, and law enforcement agencies, as well as other stakeholders. NICHE has the support of highly reputable individuals who are invested in both the success and the wellbeing of Canadians.
"I recently travelled across the country on a fact-finding mission, and discovered that there is a critical role for ongoing education to play in the productive development of the cannabis industry, for the benefit of all Canadians," Rasode said. "I'm looking forward to bringing my experience to bear in helping to effect this, in my role as a Liberty Leaf Advisory Board member."
A Legacy of Senior Management Excellence
Among many other accomplishments, Ms. Rasode served on the Board of Directors for Fraser Health, providing governance and vision for the largest health authority in British Columbia. In her appointed role, she worked with senior management to establish overall strategic direction, review long-term plans and ensure appropriate community consultation. Previously she served two terms as an elected City Councilor for the City of Surrey from 2008 to 2014.
"We at Liberty Leaf are extremely gratified to welcome Ms. Rasode to the team," said Rascan. "Her input will add immense depth to our venture as we continue to pursue our aggressive growth plans."
According to Ms. Rasode, Liberty Leaf is on a fast-track to dramatic expansion in the next few years: "I am very excited to be able to contribute my expertise to this outstanding enterprise. The cannabis industry is creating an entirely new category of jobs for British Columbians and Canadians across the country. These are in such diverse areas as research, management, production, distribution and retail. This provides benefits for everyone."
