Lieutenant Governor to present trophy at 2010 World Junior Baseball
Championships Gold Medal Game
THUNDER BAY, ON, July 31 /CNW/ - The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will play a key role at the opening and closing of the Gold Medal Game of the 2010 International Baseball Federation World Junior Baseball Championships in Thunder Bay, on Sunday, August 1st.
Accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Ann Onley, His Honour will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the top of the final game. He will also present the Championship Trophy to the winning team at the conclusion of the match.
"As life-long baseball fans and supporters of the sport at all levels, Ruth Ann and I are thrilled to be joining tournament organizers, staff, volunteers, and players, along with the residents of Thunder Bay, at the culmination of this marvelous event which has showcased the spirit and hospitality of the people of Ontario," said the Lieutenant Governor.
A total of 46 games, with an array of teams from across the globe, including teams from Canada, the United States, Cuba and Italy, among others, have been played in Thunder Bay since the start of the tournament on July 23rd.
