MONTRÉAL, Feb. 18, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - UTILE seized the opportunity of yesterday's Housing Fair at Concordia University to launch Likehome.info, its information campaign on student housing. The campaign was initiated in response to the importance, acknowledged by Montreal, its universities and other social groups, of improving the City's ability to offer good living conditions to its student population. Available in French, English and Mandarin, this trilingual project aims to attract and retain students by better integrating them into the city.
" The unanimous feedback we are getting from universities, student groups and community organizations is that this is the tool that Montreal was missing as a student metropolis, " explains Laurent Levesque, coordinator of UTILE. " Our city now has a unified information point to help the 300,000 people that study here to find a decent apartment. It's simple : all the info is at a place Likehome.info ! "
The result of a collaboration amongst student and housing organizations, this project was funded by the Forum jeunesse de l'île de Montréal and by Montréal's Ville-Marie borough. The web platform central to the campaign includes sections on finding a new apartment, on Montréal's neighborhoods and their characteristics, and on simple solutions to common housing problems and issues.
The Unité de travail pour l'implantation de logement étudiant (UTILE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development, study and promotion of student housing as co-op initiatives within Quebec.
