Linda Oprica New Chair of Comox Valley Airport Commission
VANCOUVER, May 16, 2012 /CNW/ - The Comox Valley Airport Commission (CVAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Director Linda Oprica to the position of Chair on CVAC's Board of Directors.
Oprica's appointment is for a term of two years. She takes over the position from Brad Minton, who has held the title since March 2011.
"I thank Brad for his hard work as head of this Board and I am pleased he will continue to serve as a Director for CVAC," said Linda Oprica. "I look forward to working with the Board and I am very optimistic about what lies ahead for the Commission and our airport."
The Commission will be well served by Linda who has five years of experience as a Director on the CVAC Board and extensive leadership experience as a business and executive coach. She is also the past president of the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Cumberland Centennial and the Comox Valley Women's Business Network, the latter which named her Woman of the Year in 2002.
In addition to Linda's appointment, CVAC also announces the following changes:
- Director Scott Tory has been appointed to the role of Treasurer. Scott brings extensive business acumen to the role with experience overseeing multi-million dollar contracts. He takes over the position from Darlene Neuman whose term is ending in July 2012.
- The role of Vice Chair, previously served by Christine Gibson, is vacant following Christine's resignation from the Board. She was a Member at Large and the Board is considering its next steps in seeking out a replacement for her.
The Comox Valley Airport Commission is the governing authority for the operation of the Comox Valley Airport. The nine-member Commission is broadly representative of the Comox Valley community and its members are nominated by the City of Courtenay, the Town of Comox, the Village of Cumberland, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD), the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Comox Valley Economic Development Society (CVEDS).
CVAC is a federally incorporated, non-profit entity. It was established through letters patent in 1996.
