Linde Canada employees' bike ride nets over $8,000 for Heart and Stroke Foundation
- In line with Linde's Health and Safety core value
- Includes matching funds from Linde Canada
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, June 4, 2014 /CNW/ - Twenty nine employees of Linde Canada Limited raised $4,108 to help reduce Canadians' rate of death from heart disease and stroke. The employees' efforts were matched by Linde Canada, bringing the total raised to $8,108. The Linde employees pedaled in the "Big Bike" organized by the Heart and Stroke Foundation in its effort to create a healthier future for Canadians.
Andre Tremblay, Linde Canada Limited's Agent Care Services representative and the coordinator for the Linde's participation in this event, said, "This is certainly a meaningful cause and I'm very proud of my fellow workers who stepped up to help meet this worthy challenge. They were very enthusiastic which made it a fun event as well as a financially successful one."
Tremblay pointed out, "The Big Bike falls right in line with a major Linde core value -- Health and Safety -- which Linde encourages its employees to practice both at work and at home."
Kendra Coons, Area Coordinator for the Heart and Stroke Foundation in the Peel Region, said, "We truly appreciate the response we received from Linde personnel for this event. It is people like these that will help us achieve our vital goals for the future."
The Foundation's impact goals by 2020 are:
- To reduce Canadians' rate of death from heart disease and stroke by 25%.
- Significantly improve the health of Canadians by decreasing their risk factors for heart disease and stroke by 10%.
Tremblay noted, "Linde participants also have a personal interest in these goals because we lost a good friend and colleague to a heart condition a few years ago."
