Linde Canada introduces Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) gases for food processors Français
MAPAX® gas solutions extend shelf life of fresh foods
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Jan. 19, 2016 /CNW/ -- Linde Canada Ltd is introducing its MAPAX® line of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) gases that help extend shelf-life and maintain the quality of fresh food products. This product line will help to meet the increasing demand for packaged prepared foods in Canada.
"We're launching the Linde MAPAX product line, developed by Linde global food specialists, to provide Canadian food processers with superior products and services to meet the growing consumer trend toward fresh prepared foods," said Drew Sansom, business manager - Beverage/Food/Helium Gases for Linde Canada. Linde Canada is an affiliate of Linde North America and a member of The Linde Group, a world-leading gases and engineering company.
The MAPAX solution inhibits the deterioration of food in a natural way by combining the correct pure gas or gas mixture of nitrogen, carbon dioxide and oxygen to keep products fresh and appetizing and help reduce returns due to spoilage. The MAPAX solution also improves distribution because foods protected by MAPAX gas mixtures can be delivered across longer distances or on a less frequent basis for enhanced logistical flexibility.
"The MAPAX modified atmosphere packaging solution is ideal for trayed, bagged and pouched products, and can often extend the practical shelf life of fresh foods typically by 200% or more compared with packaging in air," Sansom said. For example, the shelf life of meat varieties can be extended to 2 to 3 times, and baked goods to 3 to 4 times. "We'll be supplying some pre-mixed gases, which are based on Linde's wealth of experience in this arena, that are developed for a variety of food products," Sansom said. "More importantly, however, we will also customize mixtures to suit individual food processors' needs."
In the 2014 financial year, The Linde Group generated revenue of CAD 25.036 billion (EUR 17.047 bn), making it the largest gases and engineering company in the world with approximately 65,500 employees working in more than 100 countries worldwide. The strategy of The Linde Group is geared towards long-term profitable growth and focuses on the expansion of its international business with forward-looking products and services.
