LIONSGATE AND NORDISK FILM FORGE NEW MULTI-YEAR OUTPUT DEAL IN SCANDINAVIA
Agreement Encompasses Eagerly-Anticipated Lionsgate and Summit Titles Including The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2, Next Three Installments of the Divergent Franchise, Now You See Me 2 and Gods of Egypt
SANTA MONICA, Calif. and COPENHAGEN, Denmark, May 6, 2014 /CNW/ - On the heels of the successful launch of Divergent in Scandinavia, Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), a leading global entertainment company, has entered a new and expanded multiyear output deal with longstanding partner Nordisk Film in Scandinavia, the two companies announced today.
The agreement encompasses a powerful pipeline of upcoming Lionsgate and Summit titles including the next two installments of the global blockbuster The Hunger Games franchise (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2), which has already generated more than $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office, the next three films in the recently-launched Divergent franchise (Insurgent, Allegiant Parts 1 & 2), Now You See Me 2, the sequel to last year's sleeper smash that grossed more than $350 million worldwide, the potential tentpole Gods of Egypt, currently filming in Australia, and the crime thriller Child 44, based on the best-selling novel by Tom Rob Smith, produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Daniel Espinosa.
