OTTAWA, Dec. 9 /CNW/ - Preston Street BIA proudly presents the Little Italy Christmas Farmers' Market Saturday December 11 and 18 at Preston Street and Louisa Street in Little Italy. The Market will feature fresh local produce, meat and Christmas decorations, from our own area farmers, as well as jewellery, art and gifts from local artists and craftspeople.
Mario Giannetti, Chairman of the Preston Street BIA says, "We have brought back this market in response to the overwhelmingly positive reaction we had to our Fall Farmers Markets. Many of our residents have expressed their wish that we continue giving them access to fresh, local food. We are just responding to demand."
That's why for the next two Saturdays, December 11 and 18, Preston Street in Little Italy will be hosting a Christmas Farmers' Market full of hand-made jewellery and crafts, locally raised turkey, ham and exotic meats, pies, beautiful trees and wreathes, apples, veggies and so much more! On December 18th, the merchants and residents of Little Italy will be doing their part to build Toy Mountain, accepting donations of gifts for local children who may not receive any for Christmas.
Preston Street is the heart and soul of Ottawa's Little Italy. Having just completed a $30 million reconstruction and beautification project, Preston Street is primed to create new attractions to the area, such as this market. Rich in culture, variety, and bonhomie, Little Italy has quickly become a must-see cultural destination in the City.
The Preston Street Business Improvement Association was formed in 1986 with the mandate to promote, beautify and advocate for the small businesses on this traditional mainstreet.
