Little Warriors makes history; has finally achieved its dream

The facility that will become Canada's first long-term treatment centre for victims of child sexual abuse has been purchased and is set to open summer 2014

EDMONTON, Nov. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - After years of ups and downs, and a lot of hard work, Little Warriors' dream has finally come true. At a news conference today, surrounded by friends and supporters, Glori Meldrum, founder and chair of Little Warriors announced that the facility that will become the Be Brave Ranch by Ray LaBonte and Family has been purchased.

"This has been a dream of ours for so long; I can't believe this day is here," said Glori Meldrum, founder and chair of Little Warriors. "We've had a difficult road, but we built it. Everyday Albertans built it for little Albertans. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to each and every person for your love and support. It means the world to me and to our little warriors."

With Phase 1 complete, Little Warriors is set to move into Phase 2, which involves renovating and repurposing the existing facility that will become the Be Brave Ranch. However, in order to open the ranch, Little Warriors is still in need of $5 million to move into Phase 3 and fund operations for trials. How you can help: the not-for-profit organization is asking for donations, volunteer hours or gifts in kind for the ranch.

Little Warriors plans to open the ranch officially in June 2014 for two years of trials. During this trial period, Little Warriors intends to treat more than 100 children per year.
