LiUNA proponents of building an Olympic legacy
TORONTO, Sept. 15, 2015 /CNW/ - On September 15, 2015, City Council will decide on their intentions to host the 2024 summer Olympics. The Olympic Games are the premier global sporting event and in hosting the 2024 Olympic Games the City of Toronto will be showcased to each corner of the earth, proving once and for all that Toronto is truly a world-class, multicultural city that is second to none.
LiUNA (Labourers International Union of North America) wishes to add its voice to those supporters of this bid and stand ready to help build the infrastructure necessary to host this global event.
Joseph Mancinelli, International Vice President and Regional Manager for Central and Eastern Canada states, "Mayor Tory's invitation to me to discuss LiUNA's support demonstrates a level of inclusiveness that has been lacking at the city for several years. We are appreciative of his time and we are confident that his and council's final decision will be a measured one which takes into account the interests not only of the residents of the GTA, but of all Canadians."
For over 110 years LiUNA has built the roads we drive on, the bridges we cross, the houses we live in and the buildings we work in. We look forward to a successful bid that will allow our members to construct the world's most state-of-the-art sporting facilities befitting the world class city of Toronto.
