STORY SUMMARY:
The Charles Taylor Prize For Literary Non-Fiction is Canada's most prestigious award for well written non-fiction books. The Governor General will be in attendance on Monday March 5th in Toronto as the $25,000 Award is presented to one author. Five authors are in the running (four of whom are from British Columbia - the fifth author, Andrew Westoll, lives in Ontario).
The 2012 Charles Taylor Prize Finalists and Their Books Are:
Wade Davis for Into the Silence: The Great War, Mallory, and the Conquest of Everest, published by Knopf Canada
Charlotte Gill for Eating Dirt: Deep Forests, Big Timber, and Life with the Tree-Planting Tribe, published by Greystone Books in partnership with the David Suzuki Foundation
J J Lee for The Measure of a Man: The Story of a Father, a Son, and a Suit, published by McClelland & Stewart
Madeline Sonik for Afflictions & Departures: Essays, published by Anvil Press
Andrew Westoll for The Chimps of Fauna Sanctuary: A Canadian Story of Resilience and Recovery, published by HarperCollins Publishers
