Loblaw Companies Awards $250,000 to After-School Programs across Canada
New Loblaw grant supports local organizations that help kids develop healthy, active lifestyles after school
BRAMPTON, ON, Nov. 9 /CNW/ - To help more kids in our communities get active and stay healthy, Loblaw Companies Limited (Loblaw) is pleased to announce the Loblaw Companies After-School Grant which will award grants totaling $250,000. This year 100 organizations across Canada that are providing activities after school for kids from elementary school through high school will benefit from the Loblaw Companies After-School Grant. Individual organizations will receive grants up to a maximum of $5,000.
The Loblaw Companies After-School Grant focuses on recreational programs that help young people improve their fitness and nutrition levels, connect to their community and develop skills that they will be able to use throughout their lives. The grants also provide opportunities for participation by children that may not otherwise have access to after school programs.
"The Loblaw Companies After-School Grant is just one of the many ways that Loblaw strives to make a positive difference in local communities where we have stores," said Peggy Hornell, Senior Director, Community Investment, Loblaw Companies Limited. "With these grants we continue to acknowledge the great work organizations across Canada are doing to provide supportive and participatory environments after school for children of all ages."
These grants are the latest of several national Loblaw initiatives that support the Company's focus on Healthy Active Kids. Loblaw is committed to being active in communities at the local, regional and national levels and the Company views this as an integral component to the success of its business. A commitment to Make a Positive Difference in Our Communities is one of five Loblaw corporate social responsibility principles that shape Loblaw's approach to business.
