City Councillor Brian Mayes kicked off campaign
WINNIPEG, Oct. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - Twelve Winnipeg artists came together today to create a large eye-catching canvas that will help change the lives of 1000 children around the world. At Cityplace Mall, the artists simultaneously painted a picture of 4-year-old Ercilla, a child from Mozambique who is the face of World Vision's new campaign.
The event launched World Vision's "Just 1 Child" campaign in Winnipeg that runs October 1- December 31. "The focus of the campaign is to help Winnipeg residents realize that sponsoring one child is all it takes to change the life of that child. I know how generous we Winnipeggers are, and this is a great time to make a difference," said Julie Sproule, a World Vision supporter who was also one of the artists at the event. Winnipeg residents sponsor almost 22, 000 children overseas.
Through this campaign, World Vision hopes to find sponsors for 1,000 children living in developing countries who every day face struggles to access food, water and education. "I know Winnipeg residents can help World Vision achieve their campaign goal. By giving a little, a child can achieve so much," said Councillor Brian Mayes, who officially kicked off the campaign.
