Local Police Team Up For Marihuana Eradication
WINDSOR, ON, Sept. 20 /CNW/ - Over the past week police officers from the Chatham Kent Police Service (CKPS), Leamington Police Service (LPS), Amherstburg Police Service (APS), Lasalle Police Service (LPS) and the Windsor Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) teamed up to undertake marihuana eradication throughout Essex and Chatham/Kent Counties. These efforts are part of a national effort dubbed Project OSabot. The objective of OSabot is to eradicate outdoor marihuana grow operations through cooperative efforts of law enforcement partners.
Through the use of human and technical resources, including a RCMP helicopter - local law enforcement were able to locate, seize and destroy marihuana plants with an estimated value of 3.3 million dollars throughout the Chatham-Kent and Essex County areas.
"This initiative is an excellent example of the success achieved by law enforcement through a cooperative, integrated, intelligence led approach to tackle the problem of drugs within our region. Alex MILLS of the Windsor RCMP Detachment.
