Local theatrical production pays tribute to Veterans in Calgary - MP Joan Crockatt announces funding for commemorative project Français
CALGARY, Nov. 7, 2014 /CNW/ - Joan Crockatt, Member of Parliament for Calgary Centre, today announced Government of Canada support for a presentation of the award-winning play, Jake's Gift. MP Crockatt made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs.
Presented by the Lunchbox Theatre, Jake's Gift is a poignant and moving theatrical production highlighting the significance of Canada's contributions to the Second World War. Through the narration of a Canadian War Veteran who returns to Juno Beach for the 60th anniversary of D-Day, and a curious local child, the story puts historical events and sacrifices into perspective. The play began on October 27 and continues until November 22.

- The Lunchbox Theatre is receiving $5,000 through Veterans Affairs Canada's Community Engagement Partnership Fund for the commemorative play Jake's Gift.
- Since 2006, the Government of Canada has approved more than $13 million, through the Community Engagement Partnership Fund, for projects that recognize Veterans and those who died in service.
